"Oh, tis only that me and Ross did go to see the doctor for the first time today," she tells Galen, following him into the kitchen simply because it's a room she's always been comfortable in. From an early age, she'd been the one feeding her brothers, baking and cooking and cleaning, and then at Nampara she had been in charge of the entire kitchen once Ross had realized how poor Prudie's cooking was compared to Demelza's. She loves being in the kitchen and wishes every day for a much larger room in which to cook now that they live in Darrow.
"There's nothing like it where I'm from," she admits. "The doctor asked so many questions and I didn't rightly know how to answer all of 'em. She drew blood and took samples and did an ultrasound. I didn't even know what it were when she tried to start."
It had terrified her, even though she had been told of the picture taking. She just hadn't known what to expect.
