Perhaps it's not fair to put this on Galen, but there are few people in Darrow she trusts as much as she does him. There are books, of course, and she's done a fair bit of reading on carrying a child, but there are more specifics they have mentioned that Demelza doesn't understand and she's not yet discovered in her reading.
