Oct. 12th, 2015 01:30 pmIt's been long enough now since she'd found him in that alley that Demelza feels comfortable going to visit Dean.
She'd meant to go earlier, but with Ross arriving in Darrow she has been a fair bit distracted with welcoming him to the city and spending time with her husband. He's been terribly attentive to both her and Julia, hardly wanting to let them out of his sight, but today she had insisted. She'd spent the morning baking meat pies, one for Ross to keep at home and three for Dean -- three because he had been injured, she told Ross as she packed them carefully into the bottom of Julia's stroller -- and then she had sent him out into the city with Garrick on his lead and told him not to come back until he'd discovered something new.
Ross, she knows, isn't like she is in that regard. Thus far he's been content to stay with her at home and do what she likes simply because Demelza knows the city better than he does, but given how much there is to explore, she feels as though she's keeping him from the fascinating things she had to learn on her own. So with Garrick as a guide, she thinks Ross will do well enough on his own, and she puts her daughter into her stroller, then sets out to visit Dean at his home.
It's a warm enough afternoon, though with a bit of a wind, and she walks quickly to the house where she knows Dean lives. Julia is happy enough in her stroller, the shade pulled over to keep her safe from the sun. Demelza herself is dressed in a pale green dress, one she had found in a shop that sells clothes similar enough to what she wore at home that she feels quite comfortable in them and so she's feeling rather cheerful when she reaches Dean's home and carefully carries the stroller up the stairs so she can knock.
